The short version
We collect what we need to sell you the software, deliver it, keep your licence working and help you when something breaks: your name, email, order details and the basics about your device. Payments go through Shopify’s processors — we never see your card number. Our software checks its licence but doesn’t read your files or spy on your games. We don’t sell your data; we share it with the services that run the store and, unless you opt out, with advertising partners. You can see, fix, delete or export your data and unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
ZTweaks (“ZTweaks”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website and store, our downloadable software, our Discord community and the related content, features and support (together, the “Services”). Our store and checkout are powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies whenever you visit or use the Services, buy something from us, use our software, or communicate with us. If anything in this Privacy Policy conflicts with our Terms of Service, this Privacy Policy controls for anything to do with the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information.
Please read it carefully. By using the Services you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand how your information is handled as described here.
2. Personal information we collect
“Personal information” means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It does not include information that is anonymous or has been de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to you. Depending on how you use the Services and where you live, we may collect the following:
- Contact details — your name, email address, billing address and, if you give it to us, your phone number. We sell digital downloads, so we do not need a shipping address.
- Payment information — the payment method you used, transaction amount, currency, billing details and payment confirmation. Card and account numbers are entered directly with our payment processor (Shopify Payments, PayPal or another provider shown at checkout) and are handled under that provider’s own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number.
- Account information — if you create a store account: your username, password (stored hashed), preferences and settings.
- Order and transaction information — the products you look at, add to your cart or buy, your order history, licence keys or download links issued to you, and the number of PCs a licence covers.
- Software licence data — to confirm that a copy of our software is genuine and within its licence, the software may send us your licence key or order reference together with a non-reversible identifier derived from your PC’s hardware, and the software version. The software does not read your files, record your keystrokes outside its own macro settings, capture your screen, or collect game account credentials.
- Communications — anything you send us in a support ticket, email, Discord message or review, including screenshots, log files and your Discord username and ID.
- Device and connection information — your IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and operating-system type, language, screen size, referring page and other identifiers your device sends.
- Usage information — how and when you interact with the Services: pages viewed, links clicked, time on page, and similar analytics.
We may also draw inferences from this information, for example which products you are likely to be interested in.
3. Where we get it
- Directly from you — when you buy something, create an account, open a support ticket, join our Discord, leave a review, enter a giveaway or otherwise contact us.
- Automatically — from your device and browser when you use the Services or our software, including through cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).
- From our service providers — for example Shopify, our payment processors, our digital-delivery and licensing tools, and analytics providers, when they collect or process information on our behalf.
- From partners and other third parties — for example an affiliate link that tells us which creator referred you, or Discord when you interact with our server.
4. How we use your information
- To provide the Services and deliver what you bought. Processing your payment, sending your download link or licence key, verifying your licence when the software runs, remembering your preferences, keeping your account, and sending you order confirmations and account notices.
- To support you. Answering tickets and messages, troubleshooting problems on your PC with you, and keeping a record of past conversations so you don’t have to repeat yourself.
- To keep the Services and our customers safe. Authenticating accounts, detecting shared, leaked or resold licences, investigating chargebacks and payment fraud, blocking abuse of our Discord, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To improve the Services. Understanding which pages, products and features are used, fixing bugs, and deciding what to build next. Where possible we do this with aggregated or de-identified data.
- Marketing. Sending you emails about new products, updates and offers (you can unsubscribe at any time — see section 11), and showing you advertising for our products on other websites and platforms based on your activity on the Services.
- Legal reasons. Complying with tax, accounting and consumer-protection law; responding to valid legal requests from courts, law enforcement or regulators; and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to make the store work (for example to keep items in your cart and remember that you are logged in), to understand how the Services are used, and to measure and target advertising. Shopify sets the cookies that are strictly necessary for checkout; you can read Shopify’s cookie details at shopify.com/legal/cookies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the store, including checkout, from working. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it as an opt-out of targeted advertising for that browser (see section 11). We do not respond to other “Do Not Track” signals.
7. Our relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit is transmitted to and shared with Shopify and with third parties that may be located in countries other than where you live.
To help protect, grow and improve our business we use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on information about your interactions with our store, with other merchants and with Shopify. For those features Shopify is the party responsible for processing your personal information, including for responding to requests to exercise your rights. You can read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and exercise your rights over that processing through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
8. Third-party websites and links
The Services link to sites and platforms we do not control — Discord, TikTok and other creator pages, payment providers and the like. Their privacy and security practices are their own; please read their policies. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or security of third-party sites, and linking to them is not an endorsement. Anything you post publicly, on our Discord or elsewhere, may be seen and used by others.
9. Children
The Services are intended for adults. Under our Terms of Service you must be 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy from us, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us (section 16) and we will delete it. We do not knowingly “sell” or “share” (as those words are defined in applicable law) the personal information of anyone under 16.
10. Security and how long we keep your information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), payment processing by PCI-compliant providers, access controls and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, and information in transit may not be secure, so please don’t send sensitive details over insecure channels or share your account or licence details with anyone.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above: order and payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically up to seven years); licence records for the life of the licence, so we can re-issue it and verify it; support conversations for a limited time after the issue is closed; and marketing data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When we no longer need information we delete or anonymise it.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. They are not absolute, may apply only in certain situations, and in some cases we may decline a request where the law allows.
- Access / know — ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Delete — ask us to delete your information. We may need to keep some records (for example order and tax records, or evidence relating to a chargeback or a breach of our Terms) where the law allows or requires.
- Portability — receive a copy of your information in a usable format and, where technically feasible, have it sent to another provider.
- Opt out of targeted advertising / “sale” or “sharing” — you can opt out here. If you visit with the Global Privacy Control signal enabled we automatically treat that as an opt-out for that browser and device and, where we can link it to a Shopify account, for the account as well. Learn more at globalprivacycontrol.org.
- Marketing emails — unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email. We will still send essential emails about your orders, licences and account.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that already happened.
To exercise a right, use the options shown on the Services or contact us (section 16). We may need to verify your identity first. You can appoint an authorised agent to act for you; we will ask for proof of that authorisation and may still verify your identity directly. We will respond within the time required by the law that applies to you, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Rights relating to Shopify’s own processing can be exercised at privacy.shopify.com.
12. Additional information for certain regions
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. We process your personal information on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (delivering and licensing the software, support); our legitimate interests (securing the Services, preventing fraud and licence abuse, improving the Services, and direct marketing to existing customers where permitted); your consent (non-essential cookies and, where required, marketing); and compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting). You have the rights listed in section 11, plus the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
California and other US states. In the past twelve months we have collected the categories of personal information listed in section 2 for the purposes in section 4 and disclosed them to the categories of recipients in section 6. We do not sell personal information for money. Our use of advertising cookies may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law, and as “targeted advertising” under other state laws; you can opt out as described in section 11. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit. You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first (section 16) and we will try to resolve it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to appeal our decision by contacting us again, or to complain to your local data-protection authority.
14. International transfers
We and our service providers may store and process your personal information outside the country you live in, including in the United States and Canada, where Shopify’s infrastructure is located. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland we rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (or the UK equivalent), unless the destination country has been found to provide adequate protection.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, regulatory or operational reasons. We will post the revised version here, update the “Last updated” date and, where the law requires, notify you. Please check back periodically.
